Inaugurated in 1992, Pestana Gramacho Golf course in Portugal is famous for its unique design. Ronald Fream, the successful designer of Vale de Pinta course had designed this course in collaboration with Nick Price. The course is designed in such a way that even if you come again and again to this place, you will face new challenges every time. 27 greens and 18 holes of the course allow golfers of all calibers to enjoy the sport of golf significantly. Pestana Gramacho has been a host to Portugese Ladies Open several times. It has been an 8 times consecutive host of European Seniors Tour Qualifying Final. Beauty of the Golf Course

Apart from the strategically designed golf course, the designers, Ronald and Nick have managed to inculcate the traditional landscape in the place. The natural stone outcrops with the walling of dry stones beautify the place. The hazards are also designed in conjunction with the beauty of fairways and greens.

In addition, some of the ancient existent trees are there near the artfully sculpted bunkers and lakes. One olive tree at the place is over 1200 years old! The breathtaking lakes in the rolling grounds of the course are dotted with almond, fig, olive and carob tress. The fairways covered with Bermuda grass along with strategically placed bunkers make the golfers enjoy the place to their fullest.

The sister course – Vale de Pinta

Gramacho golf course is a sister course of Vale de Pinta golf course. Vale de Pinta has always maintained its reputation as a course with excellent condition round the year. Penn Cross Bent greens have also been maintained in marvelous condition. The holes- par 4 and par 5 are doglegs.

Location and layout of Gramacho course

The 18-hole course is located at the Carvoeiro Golf Club. It used to be a 9-hole course earlier, which was later expanded in 2002 to 18-holes. The earlier designer of the 9 holes was Ron Fream from Golfplan, USA. The latest 9 holes are narrower. The course is a par 71 golf course and is spread in more than 6000 meters. The par 4 and par 5 are doglegs like Vale de Pinta course.
